Winter is normally a slower time of year for home sales, but not this year.
In the West region of the US, the number of showings (people going to look at houses for sale), is up 23% compared to last year.
I see it with clients I am working with, too. Many find a home they like and make an offer, only to discover they are competing with lots of other people who also want to buy the home.
One great way to eliminate lots of stress AND make your offer more appealing to a seller it to get pre-approved for your mortgage.
Putting your loan file in front of an underwriter and working out all the bugs BEFORE you buy a home really is a smart move.
At that point all that’s left is for us to document the house (get an appraisal, title insurance report, and check to see if it is in a flood zone).
You may need to give me a few updated pay stubs or bank statements, but that’s pretty simple.
Make your offer look better to a seller, and eliminate all the hurry-up stress by getting your mortgage approved prior to making an offer to buy a home.
You will thank yourself in the end (as will your realtor and loan officer).
